Debbie Stevenson Creates Statue to Honor Jose Ramirez
Debbie from our R&D team attended the unveiling of her life-sized sculture of World Junior Welterweight Champion Jose Ramirez at the Big Fresno Fair Historical Museum. Commissioned by the Friends of the Fresno Fair, Debbie has been hard at work on this project for almost a year. While Debbie had never sculpted a full-scale, life-sized person before, she was honored to take on this project. "I've been such an admirer of Jose, I couldn't say no to the opportunity!"

Debbie worked closely with her husband Fred, who constructed the armature for the mixed media sculpture, finished with specialty paints that include real bronze metals. The sculture will be on display during the Big Fresno Fair and will be a permanent exhibit at the Fresno Historical Museum. Debbie has also sculpted a bust of William Saroyan, a bust of hot rod icon Blackie Gejeian and an oil painting of racehorse California Chrome, also on exhibit at the museum.
